July 09, 2009 [23:12:20 PDT] 4th of July
Well that was unexpected
Every year I join my friend in his family's rather eccentric 4th of July celebration, out on a hillside in the middle of nowhere with an astounding view. When we aren't launching our own fireworks there are no less then 3 fireworks shows going on out in the distance.
This year was a tad different though.
Things started fairly normal - my friend was late but we got there long before anything was really happening. We had been worried about a shortage of fireworks but there ended up being plenty - unfortunately we never got to use half of them.
While it was still light out, my friend and I shot off a great many bottle rockets and other small doohickeys, as well as some experimenting that had two fireworks explode on me - my ears were ringing for MINUTES and I probably suffered permanent ear damage from that :C. 'twas all in good fun though. I manage to launch some 6 of them in a row with a fuse, played the piano, ate a lot of food, took pictures, and in general had a blast all the way till sundown.
After we started shooting off the roman candles, we ran into a little problem - the hillside was on fire. We had to call the fire department and obviously stopped shooting off our fireworks. On the bright side, our neighbors were putting on the most ridiculously awesome fireworks show I had ever witnessed, and they were on the valley below us - meaning the fireworks were exploding at eye-level some 400 feet away, which was quite possibly the best fireworks show I have or ever will see.
So now I'm back home and will be posting pictures after I've copied them off and processed the good ones (and implemented the picture upload here). Note that a wide variety of formatting tags are available for the blogs - both HTML and BBcode are supported to prevent confusion about which one to use. If you use a tag of any sort, it will probably work. Note that certain groups of tags are disabled in some places (I.E. you can only post images in a blog, and you can't put a <blockquote> in a title).
